Gentoo Tutorial: KDE Install Part 1 of 2

Part 1/2
This tutorial takes you through the KDE WIKI to install KDE on a base Gentoo install. I used Vbox and installed Gentoo from the current handbook. I then recorded all steps from start to finish to get KDE Fully installed and running in Gentoo.

Hello DasGregor ! I watched the entire playlist and I enjoy it a lot. It was quite funny even if it was not intended thanks to the different setbacks. I admire your patience: 1 day and nine hours to achieve this feat !!!

For those who struggles with compiling virtual box video drivers will have to switch to newer GCC compiler. Current one (gcc-4.8.4) has a bug and won't be able to compile that video driver properly.I personally used gcc-4.9.2 (still in beta) and it did the trick for me.

Thanks Das for all your tutorials, I really enjoyed all of them. l learned a lot, I was hesitating to install gentoo for long time after i screwed an brandnew gentoo installation years ago.

now I am installing funtoo on a 2nd machine. it is a great distro i hope to see a review for it on your channel.

I managed to install Gentoo and X.org once, but since then I get compile warnings all the time when using Portage and X.org drivers won’t compile (even though I installed it the same way). Do you know what may have happened?

Got it to work after much google-ing and reading  the handbook. Portage was emerge wrong driver.

I have had trouble getting the xf86-video-virtualbox-4.2.24 to compile. I get failed message about the emake. Any help much appreciated.
