@advicewitherin 👀 how to answer the first question asked in every single job interview…?

🗣️ Remember, HOW you speak matters more than WHAT you say (at least in this case!)

So start the interview off on the right foot by communicating that you’re professional, capable, warm, and you know, a normal human that’s easy to work with.

Remember to:

✅ Sit up straight
✅ Make eye contact (50/70 rule!)
✅ Smile
✅ Nod
✅ No hands in pockets
✅ Feet on floor

〰️ Struggle with body awareness/language? Try this 👇

🧍🏻Grab a friend/family member
👓 Ask them to give you a mock interview
👩🏽‍💼 Wear the outfit you’ll be wearing
🎥 Film yourself answering their questions

😅 I KNOW, I know — watching yourself back on video can be torture (trust me, I do it all day every day!)

But it can help you become SO SELF AWARE. You might have NO clue you were playing with your hair, fidgeting with your watch, or kept looking at the clock.

⏰ This exercise can help you become an amazing interviewer in no time!

You got this! 👏

I pretty much always answer with the standard "I'm doing well, how are you?" 😅

I kid you not, I was in an interview and used your tips and when I was done my interviewer asked, "You watch that Erin girl dont you? Because you were definitely one of the better interviews". So erin I can confirm, your tips helped me to stand out. You got this!

Love this! I’m a huge fan of “I’m doing great, thanks so much for having me today.”

“Excited to be here” and complimenting the interview process/office decor/recent news from the company goes a LONG way

i always say "Im great, a bit nervous for this interview but very excited to be here" and they always respond with "oh no need to be nervous, I'm sure you'll do great"

I love that you added in that certain conversations were because a 2nd person was going to join in or re: a 2nd interview. Thanks for the added notes!

Honestly, great! I have to say the best interviews I've had, I answered this with "I am doing well. The sun is shining, so I am shining!" ... Made it through all 3 rounds and got the job offer :)

I don’t think it’s a bad idea to mention a little bit of nervousness. Especially if you’re introverted.

I get social anxiety, especially in an interview setting and I never failed with “I’m doing well, a bit nervous, but excited to be here”

„Have you been staying dry“ is a very risky question if they’re an alcoholic

Small talk is a big no-no. The interview isn't about the weather, it's about the position.

My mother drilled the “I’m good, how are you” response so far into my brain I don’t even think when someone asks me

Hahahaha, I really appreciate your videos, and I love improving my English with them! However, as a German, some of these answers seem quite wild to me. For example, in Germany, it's common at the beginning of a job interview to ask, 'Haben Sie gut hierher gefunden?' (Did you find your way here easily?), rather than 'How are you?' In Germany, 'How are you?' is somewhat more of a personal question and we tend to answer this question without lying too much. I think we really don't like Smalltalk and I think we are pretty straightforward so the question "What are your plans for the weekend" would be considered as strange during a job interview. But I guess that's just us being weird

I just scheduled a job interview for next week! I'm feeling pretty confident... but reviewing all of Erin's videos couldn't hurt!

the more I learn about job interviews, the more I think they were designed to make it as hard as possible for auDHD people
