About the Event:
Oakley Wave of the Winter powered by Surfline will be won by the surfer who catches and successfully rides the single best wave of the contest period on the North Shore of Oahu. The judging panel will select each month's top rides and they will collectively be deemed the finalists for the grand prize - $25,000 to the surfer and $5,000 to the videographer who captures the winning wave.
GoPro of the Winter Powered by Surfline:
The GoPro of the Winter boasts a $20,000 pay check to the person who successfully films the top GoPro video clip of the contest period. The judging panel of Taylor Steele, Mike Prickett and Pete Hodgson will select a winner based on cinematography, degree of difficulty of shooting, perspective, overall beauty and lighting. All submissions must be filmed with a GoPro camera.
Clifbar Performance Award:
Given to the surfer who demonstrates, more than any other, outstanding skill, commitment to both the sport and community, courage and style while consistently riding the most challenging waves on the North Shore, during the entire WOTW contest period. The Overall Performance winner will receive $10K cash plus a $10K donation made in their name to an environmental non-profit of their choice; plus, a year supply of CLIF products.
