Hello my friends! In today's video I'll review another great and cinematic manual focus lens for Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras (Canon R/Sony E/Nikon Z/Lumix S/Fujifilm/Leica L), for DSLR cameras (Canon EF/ Nikon F) and Leica M cameras!

The Meyer Gorlitz Primoplan 58mm F1.9 II is a great lens to take painterly images with your camera. 99% of the photos in the video are unprocessed jpegs, taken with the Panasonic Lumix S5 with the standard profile.
The anamorphic videos have been filmed in 6k open gate 3:2 with the Lumix S1.

A big thanks to Meyer Optik Görlitz for providing me the lens, to be able to create this video review! Nobody paid me or told me what to say in this video. I'm simply sharing my honest opinion about the lens, to help you understand if this is a good product for you.

Definitely a special lens with attractive character. I like how the specular highlights remain circular as the lens stops down.

In few weeks I'll upload the review of the new Meyer Gorlitz Trioplan 35mm f2.8! Stay Tuned!

Adding this to my taking lenses wish list! Swirly bokeh and rainbow flares are always welcome :)

Great job! Would the Trioplan series have more soap bokeh over these Primoplan?

super review. Its not for me, but wow the anamorphic setup is almost 3d! I never seen that before, because of the swirly bokeh you get depth and separation when amplified by the anamorphic stretch.

Hey Luca, regarding using the Primoplan 58 as an anamorphic taking lens, did you find the glass being set deep into the housing to be a factor at all? I have the new Primoplan 75, and the glass in that case is quite close to the front of the lens, so it's quite close to the rear of my Aivascope. My original Biotar 58 is also set quite deep, and it seems to be a nice taking lens nonetheless. Just curious your observation. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for review; which of these two new MOG 58mm lenses would you choose for portraits? Biotar or Primoplan?

Hello, I have a question for you. Have you also dealt with the Biotar 58mm 1.5 II? I mean what the Primoplan differs from the Biotar apart from the 1.5 vs 1.9 aperture. I cannot find such a comparison anywhere on the internet. I would also like to buy 75mm and I don't know whether to take Primoplan or wait for Biotar.
