I was 3 days post partum and had to be taken back to the hospital, but since I had just had a baby the icu refused to treat me and I was taken to l&d. l&d saved my life and I would trust those nurses again in a heartbeat

We had that in our hospital. Pregnant Lady, 26. week, Brain Bleed after a car crash. They had to do the C-Section in the ICU, because she was to unstable for the OR. The child got discharged from NICU with lasting brain damage a few weeks ago. Mom is still in coma and it doesn't look good.

The nurses in the hospital when I pregnant with covid, taking a turn for the worse. They ended up passing me off to the geriatric unit for heavy O2 lol. Baby, O2, and the honesty of the nurse who kept me alive, "if you don't improve from here... 💀." We made it out alive, and I returned 5 months later to birth at the same hospital. Some of the nurses even came to visit us labor and delivery. Thank you, thank you so much ❤

Yeah it's pretty crazy when all of a sudden you have two patients in the same room!

😢 bless both of you.

Girl i went to school with got into a head on collison with her bf.

She was about 2 months pregnant, in a coma until i think the baby was 4 months old post partum.

Idk where they are today but icu and nicu were absolute heroes for what they did for Sarah and her baby

I was in icu for 8 days and then in the hospital for an addition 7 after a placental abruption followed by severe pre eclampsia during the emergency c section. Lost the baby. Had kidney liver and respiratory failure. Icu didn't want me because i was an obstetrics patient, but L&D didn't want me because i was in such bad shape and beyond what they were used to. Needless to say, i had at least 3 doctors tell me they had never dealt with my situation and didn't really know how to handle it because they didn't deal with obstetrics. Not a pleasant situation after almost dying, losing my child and having to be on dialysis. Thank God for the dialysis nurse... he used to work in ICU and he lay some of the staff have it.

I was admitted to l&d with pneumonia while pregnant. They were amazing, even though obviously pneumonia wasn't their specialty l&d just somehow pull it together for anything and everything. I wish I could go back there when I need treatment in the future without a baby!!
Went back to give birth and they saved me and my baby from uterine rupture. My baby is 9 months old sleeping soundly right now ❤️ no one I trust more with our two lives.

Some of these comments are scary. I'm an ICU RN and when we get L&D pts with an ICU need then we take care of their ICU issue and anything L&D related, we get OB staff to come help us with (if it's something we don't do or aren't trained on, or even just for questions). If i have a question, I call that OB charge and she comes. I even get lactation consultants involved and get my pt on a pumping schedule (if stable enough) so she can start pumping for her baby (if that's what she wants to do). I coordinate facetimes with baby (if both are stable enough for it) etc. The point is to provide the best possible care for that pt.

I was 28 weeks pregnant and had to have my appendix removed. Surgical Ward would normally get me as a patient but my OB said to put me in Obstetrics because it would be quiet and I could rest better. Actually I was at risk and he wanted me to be monitored closely. He was afraid of me going into early labor which was a problem with my previous pregnancy. My son was born at 40 weeks 8 lbs 8 oz.
