Pokemon Trainer Classes EXPLAINED! - Censorship of Gen 1 | Gnoggin

Bug Catchers! Bird Keepers! Scientists! SUPER NERDS & naughty words!

There are at least 14 different Pokemon trainers in the Pokemon franchise, and each one has a class. In this new video series we're going to go over and explain EVERY Pokemon class by the generation they were introduced. This video covers the first two generations of games, the Gameboy era of Pokemon! Some classes are straightforward and have obvious rules like the Psychics use Psychic-type pokemon... But others are significantly more interesting or have... troubling history. I of course mean no offense at all with any of the words I say in this video. But I DO mean offense with this next statement: racism is for poopoo heads.

Help keep the channel alive!

I saw the pokemaniac less as a "furry" and more of a "the guy in a godzilla suit". You even point out how it uses specifically the big kaiju-esque pokemon.

I think Roughneck Kirby with his Cleffa is a reference to Kirby, the videogame character. A cute, rubbery, short and pink being with a connection to stars, you could easily be talking about either Nintendo beings. And the trainer's name is the exact same

neat detail about the Officer is that they only become active battlers at night. Approach them in the daytime and they have generic phrases but if the game is in nighttime, they battle you. Likely under the notion that you're sneaking about to cause trouble.

I'd love to see a Bug Catcher in the lategame sometime, using some of the not-so-pushover Bug types.
Aaron tried but he was before gen 5 so RIP. Guzma was actually a pretty good example but he never referred to himself as such.
Oh... I thought "skinhead" was just referring to them being bald... like a common insult... nevermind.

The fisherman who uses underleveled magikarp is a reference to Bitterling fishing where the point is to catch the smallest fish you can.

11:40 The Pokémon used by Poke Maniacs aren't choosed out of nowhere, all of them are from the Monster Egg Group. Many of them are based on dinosaurs and kaijus like Tyranitar (Godzilla), Nidoking (Baragon), Rhydon (very kaiju like), and Tyrantrum (is a T.Rex, of course), indicating there are fans of kaiju movies or dinosaurs enthusiasts. Not only that but many of them give hints on how to get rare Pokémon such as Lapras in G/S/S, and all of them stop appearing after gen 3 came out, sugesting there are the first Pokefans who outgrew the series when Pokémon became less popular overtime but still love the first generations, in other words there are the in universe Genwunners.
19:25 There are based on itako, blind seers of north Japan which are said to go through a hard training to channel their powers.

Once I actually fought a glitch trainer when the link cable failed during pokemon battle with my cousin. I was obliterated by a Feraligatr that was like 123 lvl. Also he was asleep, poisoned and paralized simultaniously. Weird.

I did NOT expect Jeremy Dooley to appear in an episode on channel at any point but here were are I guess. Honestly Super Nerds should have pokemon that have higher IVs and EVs than other trainers if they dont already. The ace trainers should as well

Some of the trainer classes, besides the "boss-battle" ones, have developed advanced AI and/or more competitively-viable Pokémon too, like Ace Trainers and Veterans. On the flipside, some juvenile classes have less of a clear AI, one that is closer to a generic wild Pokémon choosing its moves at random. These differences in battle ai are even present in a few post-game battle facilities.
Come to think of it, I have *never* found a detailed source explaining the trainer AI systems. There are apparently IQ values in the code that range from 0-255. If this is true, then Cynthia would undoubtedly be very close to the top.

The cultural background of the burglar class is actually super interesting, I never understood before why a bunch of thieves would randomly be hanging out together in the cinnabar mansion

One of my favorite NPCs is the first Youngster you battle in Alola who can show up later to challenge you for the Champion seat.

I mean, it makes sense; you started at about the same time

I love how GF put so much effort in creating trainer classes back in the old days, with nice tricks like jugglers switching frequently or gamblers using KO moves. Details like those in such limited hardwares shows how much love and care they had for their Pokemon project

I think its funny that gamblers in let’s go were changed to gamers. Especially since the gamers in lets go use one over leveled pokemon and only OHKO moves.
They are literally gambling to win the battle

This is good education if anyone plans in expanding the fakemon world. It will help out on what type of trainers exist in each region as they continue to plan on the routes, caves and towns.

There's a bug catcher in Viridian Forest in Heartgold/Soulsilver version that has a Pikachu on his team along with bug types.
I thought that was a neat touch since it's the only place to find one in Kanto. lol
