I was invested in ADM, bought something like 36$ and sold at 68$ in relatively short time...sold too early of course :) Anyways this crash got my attention again and I was tempted to get back in. But these accounting problems can be devastating and like Buffet said:"Problems in a company are like cockroaches in the kitchen. You will never find just one.” So I'm afraid that this investigation leads to find more cockroaches and suddenly this is a dumbster fire. For margin of safety this stock need to go much lower for me. But we shall see if this was isolated problem. I'm not willing to gamble.

I had written a couple of senteces about this stock, but ended deleting them. I did this because I studied this stock for the past 4 years and know it well. I am a bit emotionall too it that it now is in much fair value. But I want cheap value, so I am still not at my prefered price, because this stock is amazing...
Therefore I am not promoting this stock in the commentsection, but trying to rederact my emotions towards Sven that he looks really good in that beige sweater and makes great vids about my favorite stock.

I was debating buying ADM before the crash but now that I know the scandal was in accounting it makes me question the fundamental data. The PE ratio is unbeatable though, if valid.

inadvertently a great lesson in opportunity cost. you had said something along the lines of calling it a mistake to not buy more in 2022, iirc. now you have better opportunities elsewhere. i have others too, but i would be a fool not to be watching for further declines

I bout a bunch at $70. I reached out to my financial advisor about what I should do next since there will have to be a lawsuit. As usual the retail investor is the last to know about a fraud. Seems that the price was dropping in the lead-up to the SEC investigation likely due to insider info.

Whenever I see one of these financial analyses I like to do a quick "sanity check" and see how the share price compares, 1, 3, and 5 years, to an S&P500 index fund. I may or may not include dividends reinvested depending on how much time I've got. If a share price lags the S&P on all 3 time frames, or the 1 and 5 time frames, I figure I'd more likely be better off putting my money into the index fund.
A short term downturn in a stock may be a buying opportunity. But when it lags consistently for years, all the financial analysis in the world doesn't give me much confidence.

I love ADM but for below 50. I sold my shares when they were clearly overvalued at almost 90 USD with around 40% gain after the war in Ukraine and invested in VT that returned me about 15% or in the time being.

Now I'm looking to buy it again... keeping VT (so, new capital) and I love some scandal that makes people overreact.

Thank you very much, a very valuable video. As someone from Swiss I did not eaven know ADM bevore. The News was roaming fast. But that is exactly what i am looking vor. Shares that are efordable but more stable in the (maybe) comming inflation. I think it may be a idea to buy carefully a first position. And eaven if the stock is then correcting -20% who cares.
