Hellenikon at Platanistos, Evia

Hellenikon Wall at Plastanistos, Evia dates from the Early Classical period, located east of Karystos. Excavated in the early 20th century, the long retaining wall is believed to have been built by Athenians to punish the Karystians for taking the Persian side. Other scholars challenge this perspective.
