Been reading Gary Fildes book and discovering about this amazing region in Northumberland and I am so excited to come up with some friends and enjoy the dark skies of the kielder park! Catch you soon hopefully!

About 53 years ago I went camping in Kielder Forest. Didn't know about an observatory back then, but, still had a fantastic time at a fantastic campsite, with some fantastic people.

A question please... do you ever turn that red light off in the Observatory? Even we turn ALL light off in our local club's dome, and we are in Borlte 8!!

When is the best times to go star gazing. I live just 90min drive from from here and have been up for a drive the past few nights but the moon has been very bright in the sky and even at 1am the sky does not seem fully dark
