Pathfinder Regional Deepdive: Sarkoris and the Worldwound

Welcome back to our Deep Dive series! I'm dropping this a day early since I think this will be a popular video. Enjoy all!

We're finally going to talk about the setting for the Wrath of the Righteous game - The Worldwound.

Transparently, this was a difficult video to make because there is a lot of detail left unspecified as of the change in editions. Where possible I've tried to make best guesses at how things were likely to have turned out, but I'm always disclosing when it is speculation on my part.

I hope you all enjoy.

Funnily enough, I was just playing Wrath of the Righteous like an hour ago. The video game not the AP, but still.

The Worldwound/Sarkoris Scar is one of my favorite regions in Pathfinder. I actually like the Scar because of the nice spin Paizo did on the "tear in reality closes" concept. Where the demons are still in Sarkoris, they weren't sucked back into the Abyss when the Worldwound closed. That's one of my favorite bits about it, because it doesn't delegitamize anything anyone might've done playing through the WotR AP, but it also ensures that there's still stuff to do in that region, and I really have to give Paizo props for that.

Maybe I'm just biased cause of Wrath of the Righteous as game, but I think the Worldwound is my favorite setting for a pathfinder AP. It's a tangible threat and it's influence is so interesting to me. I'm glad you made this video and provided lore to it I didn't know about! I've rewatched this several times now.

I was looking forward to this deep dive! In the Pathfinder campaign I made for my friends, they had to close the Worldwound ahead of a massive invasion by Orcus. To do this, they had to resurrect the god Aroden by collecting the fragments of his soul, similar to Isis reassembling the pieces of Osiris in Egyptian myth. Since Aroden's death created the Wound, only his rebirth could repair it. All future campaigns I run deal with the aftermath of this victory.

WotR will always have a special place in my heart as the CRPG that finally made me dive into the wonderful world of Pathfinder. That added some extra meaning to this video, and I enjoyed learning the lore that leads up to and then follows the events of that game. Excellent work as always! I don't want to post spoilers for the game because it's one of the best of it's genre, but after watching this video I'm feeling inclined to start another playthrough where I'm less forgiving towards the end. I'm almost always predisposed towards diplomacy, but the lore I didn't know until today makes me wonder if some entities aren't best removed from interaction with the multiverse...

Time to fire up my unfinished Angel Crusader playthrough and go full cleansing flame!

Like a few others, WotR was my first Pathfinder campaign. It's so great to see this history play out in your videos. Thank you so much for these. My friend and I have decided to play through the entire catalogue of Pathfinder 1e APs, alternating GMs, so these videos have been a huge help.

Perfect timing, as I am starting up the final book of the Wrath campaign for my group today.

I'm about to start GMing a campaign or reclaimers settling back into Sarkoris, post-wound... My group usually uses PF2e, but we're opting for the World of Darkness system, to give it a more gritty feel.

I just want to point out, this month is the 10th anniversary of the fall of Kenabres (it was last week, if we go by publication dates). Both in-lore and IRL, of course.

All I can think of is that they should change the name of Iz to Waz.

I really enjoyed pathfinder wrath of the righteous video game, with its numerous options for your character to go it gives quite adventurous and fun time though some puzzles were bane of my existence in that game I replay it quite often and its always great to hear about the lore behind it and what happened after the crusade.
