I have not perfected this yet, and im sure there are many different ways of doing this. I can already see stonefly wings, dragonfly wings and even caddis or mayfly wings tied this way. Just select different feathers and colors and you can have some great looking wings of different styles. Let me know if you have seen this technique before and what you think of it.

I've been doing this a long time with dubbing in the middle of the tape. Clear tape also takes a highlighter pretty well too, so with both you can come up with some pretty unique patterns. The feather is top notch though!

Cool! I might try this technique to make fins and tails for large glidebaits...it's cheap to try! Also, packing tape comes in different thickness, so you could experiment if you want something more dense...thanks for sharing!

I will definitely use this technique For hopper patterns 👍

Won’t water cause the tape to separate?

I use Aleene's Fabric Fusion or Fletch-Tite Platinum (feather glue for fletching in archery). Just put a drop on and then use thumb and pointer finger to spread the glue. Holds the feather very well and still looks natural. Give it a shot, I think you'll like the outcome better than tape.

Or you could just run them between some varnish or uv through your fingers.
