Amstrad PCW - Obscure Systems Showcase

10 games for the Amstrad PCW, played with the CP/M Box Emulator.

The Amstrad PCW was a British home computer first released in 1985. It was a Z80 based machine and used the CP/M operating system. Although it was aimed primarily at productivity applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets, a surprising number of games were released for it. It's monochrome graphics and beeper based sound weren't ideal for gaming, but that didn't stop developers getting creative, particularly in Spain, where a lot of these games come from.

Please note, some of these games have sound, some don't, that's how they were originally. Head over heels makes use of the dK'Tronics sound add on, so it sounds better than the other games!

I've still got my PCW 256, I did'nt know games were available for it! I just wrote my own in the crappy basic that came with it! The only grafix were the built in ASCII ones. LOL.

Interesting! I had a PCW, but quite a few of the games you choose never made it to the UK, so my list would have some different entries. Tomahawk definitely, On the Run, maybe 3D Clock Chess and perhaps Tau Ceti. :)
