Gong are the best. My daughters tell me that when I die they will play this track and Jethro Tull's "Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of a New Day" at my funeral.

Oh man.... I was crying with laughter watching your reaction. So alike to the majority of my friends when I put some Gong on. I have been looking on here on and off for years to see if anyone would ever give their live reaction. I think it must be a youtube first, so a big round of applause from me. I was lucky enough to see them live in the early 70's amazing. There is a lot more to gong than you think so dont be too quick to dismiss them.

Perhaps the most salient point to remind ourselves here is that 'back in the day' the music, the art form call it what you like, was all important. Artists/bands were able to express themselves mostly unhindered by 'market forces' . The contrast between that and a lot of the mainstream dull formulaic stuff these days is a joy to behold. Gong were an incredible live act, musically superb, with a rather quirky, maybe even bonkers way of going about their business., and all the better for it. I consider myself very fortunate to have been around to witness it all. Fantastic band, and good work Tre for giving them a spin.

Try "Sold To The Highest Buddha" off the Angel's Egg album. That's all I'm saying!

I love Gong always good for a smile & Tre just for reference it's probably a lot of acid or mushrooms + whatever, after all the song is about POT headed pixies. Interesting fact though Gong were the 2nd act to be released on the then new Virgin records after Mike Oldfield.

OH Wow, I didn't expect you to go here! I think there's other Gong tunes like "Isle of everywhere" that is probably more up your street.

It is possible that the great Spike Milligan had an influence on Daevid Allen.

Tre, check out Pierre Moerlen's Gong from the mid to late seventies! Pierre Moerlen is an outstanding drummer! And check out Happy The Man Crafty Hands! Ron Riddle was another outstanding drummer!

I am..you are..we are crazzzyy! So lovely to see you smiling listening to this for the first time.Got have been my favourite band for 38 yrs since I was a little 15'year old little English hippie..a bit old 53 year hippie now instead.Listen to the Gong trilogy, You,Flying Teapot& Camembert Electriq ue..Check this out, some great LSD in those days lol.BTW Gong are still going after 55 yrs, Daevid Allen & GylliSmyth both incredible poets in their own right & try and find some of Daevid' s drawings if you want to see something totally far out! Anyway you don't even need to rolll a fat one to enjoy this but it

That did include some quality saxophone, though.

Had to give thumbs down on this. Whatever Tre is getting paid per song it's probably not enough.
