Our Story:
We are four years into a seven year effort of transforming 20 acres of "Piney
Grove" in Northwest Florida into our dream homestead/mini farm to be filled
with animals and joy. We plan to have a variety of miniature critters on our
pastures, raise free-range chickens, grow fish in our pond, garden
organically, plant fruit and nut trees, and harvest wild game. Our goal is
to escape the stresses of corporate life and embrace all that country living
has to offer as we enter the next chapter of our lives. Follow along on our
journey!

We were fortunate enough to have 3 full time springs feeding our property which we dammed off to create a pond. Installed a spillway and over flow pipes. We’re on 40 acres about 10 miles from you.

I bought 20 acres in NW Florida too! I am going to dig my pond too. This was very inspiring. Thank you for sharing.

Luckily our pond build worked. Several feet down is good clay soil so area ponds hold will hold water. Proper dam construction is the key here. I didn't hesitate having dam design and site inspected by engineer. And lucky owner of grading company hobby was pond building.
Anyway back you, enjoyed video. Congratulations on a nice pond and a sweet beautiful wife. We'll celebrate our 50th anniversary this April.
Got a beautiful sweetheart also. G.M.

You guys just had your first initial absorption of water in the pond it was going to do that no matter what you had to get the ground saturated before it would start filling

You guys have done exactly what I want to do. I live in the city now in central Florida but I want to buy some acreage in North central Florida and live there and have a self-sustaining pond on it. I have heard that Willow trees use lots of water so you may want to consider planting a few on the North side of your pond where the water collects. Its looking good, keep up the good work.

Good morning.
Just found your channel. Seems nice. You sound like a nice couple. I subbed. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos.
As a retired plumber I have found it's better to stop the leak rather than turning the water up. Lol
Saw one of your comments about investing in clay to seal. Sounds like a good idea. Free run off water always better than paying electric Bill's to keep it full.
Keep up the good work.
I gotta say, your wife and her quiet mannerisms in this video had me cracking up. Kinda like the straight guy with the comic relief guy as a partner.

My name is Ed, married to my beautiful wife. 3 boys, 18, 20 and 20 yr old. Retired plumber from chicago area. About 25 miles west of Chicago. 😁

That’s the area I’m hoping to relocate to in the next few years. I’m on the east coast of Florida and my town is literally exploding with new house construction..
hopefully I can find a property similar to yours and have my retirement spot ready.
