UK net migration hits record high

Despite saying that net migration numbers in 2022 were "too high", Rishi Sunak today insisted that he hadn't lost control of the immigration system.

But his words didn't mollify some of his backbenchers who said the situation was unsustainable, while Labour described the government's approach as chaotic.

In Germany, we have a similar discussion, but we think that skilled workers prefer the UK over Germany due to the language barrier. Not many speak German, but almost everyone knows at least a bit of English. English speaking countries might not realize it, but this gives their economies a big advantage since they don't have to train their workforce in a foreign language. They save a lot of time, money, and years of study that others have to go through. People can start using their skills right away from day one.

Keeping out EU workers to bring in more people from India and Nigeria. Exactly what the brexiteers had in mind I would say.

Brexiteers were complaining about European migration and now the problem has got worsened.

If Care workers are in such short supply, why don't you pay them more. Paying the minimum wage isn't good enough. It's a hard job.

Very interesting!!!
British people were not happy with the number of immigrants and voted for brexit . Now, the number of immigrants nearly doubled and on the other hand, British people stopped from their right to move to Eu without restrictions!!!
Wow .
What a clever move

Migrations will never go down. The immigration economy is huge, just ask any immigrant about the exorbitant fees for solicitors and admin fees. Politicians know this and just take advantage of the simple minded working class citizens like myself. Those upper class snobs in their whole lives probably never had to worry where their next meal would come from.

Irony is two immigrant hosts talking about immigration.

As my Brexit supporting friend said a few weeks ago. “We have traded the Polish worker to one from India.”
He regrets his vote.

Yupp most of my EU friends have left. I’m about to leave too. The UK has become an unfriendly and harsh place to live. London has lost the friendly and fun vibe it once has. Nothing is affordable. You lose an arm and a leg for a place to live. And health care is so much worse than in Germany.

You know, a simple way to reduce net migration is for British people to fill all the labor shortages. The problem with developed countries like the UK is that many of their citizens prefer corporate jobs and are not willing to work in the labor sector. So, the question arises: who will fill the gap in low-skilled jobs? The answer is simple: people from overseas.

UK asked Europeans to leave, they did. Now UK has to find people elsewhere.

You have no right talking down on students. A big chunk of this country's economy is contributed by international students. they pay literally £40k - £50k for a degree that doesn't even secure a proper job in their sector as most companies ask for British Passport. Either stop taking money from foreign youngsters or stop ranting about it.
