Barrow, Alaska has the longest and shortest day. When the sun rises on May 10th, it doesn’t set for nearly 3 months. This is perhaps Alaska is also called - the Land of the Midnight Sun.

Alaska’s official state sport is Dog mushing. Mushers and a team of 14 dogs cover the distance in 8–15 days or more.Teams generally race through blizzards causing whiteout conditions, sub zero temperatures with wind chill reaching minus 100 Fahrenheit.
