As a Christian I was and am puzzled by the increasing inclusion of I and me and subjective perspective and experience, combined with the decline of objective descriptions of the object of worship, in worship music. The argument would be that it is more accessible and or relatable. But worship music has declined further and I no longer recognise the difference between music generally and some Christian songs, in tone or subject. It has ceased to be a aid to humility, which I take to be analogous to ego dissolution.

I know I've got a few nasty patterns from the past, some still active, in me that I know I can't bring into higher levels, or 'heaven'. Just like someone without a drivers licence can't drive a car. These patterns have now begon to collapse the body, as if telling me it's now or not this life, letting them go

Do we really want to dissolve every aspect of our egos though? I feel like in this physical realm the ego is a necessary component. Of course many people have hyper inflated egos which is a problem but I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't seek for my individuality or uniqueness to dissolve I want to nurture those things but do want the narcissistic egoic mind to get out of that way. I highly value my individuality.
