Transcript:
A CDN is critical when it comes to live streaming. "CDN," is an acronym for Content Delivery Network. It's a system of globally distributed high-speed servers strategically positioned to provide close access points for large geographic populations.

The servers themselves are connected through a secure, private network to keep data safe while the loads between servers stay manageable and uncorrupted. Using a CDN in conjunction with live video streaming provides two great benefits. By caching streams on edge servers, CDNs reduce the individual server load. This makes scaling the stream to a large number of viewers across the world possible. Additionally, the process reduces transit time, since individuals are routed to the closest available server to view the cached stream. This means faster delivery and less buffering.
