2022 Trek Marlin 6 Mountain Bike - First Look and Feature Overview

Показать описание
For 2022 Trek has new options and colors for the Marlin 6 model of their popular Marlin series of bikes. Priced at slightly under $780 this is considered an affordable entry level mountain bike by local bike shop standards. I know many KevCentral viewers ride Trek Marlins, so this is a chance to see the hard-to-find (due to shortages) 2022 Marlin.

Can't wait until 2030 when the Marlin starts coming with a tapered head tube, you know, right when the industry decides to move forward with an inverted square diamond trapezoid head tube.

Man, the Axum and the Ardor are making these brand name hardtails look so bad.

Honestly seems crazy to me that any bike-shop quality of bike does not come with a tapered headtube these days. Makes me wonder if the frames on the Trek Marlins have actually changed at all in the last few years, and if it is all just different paint colors and components.

I got mine about a month ago. I love it! Great bike, and I ride it more than my trek ebike. Great video!

What's crazy is we had an older Marlin 6 come into the shop last years model. My fiance bought it. Because of the parts shortage it came with those Maxxis Ikon tires but a bigger bonus instead of the tektro hydro brakes it usually comes with. She got shimano MT-201's which are fantastic

I got a giant roam last year as a light trail commuter, there is a small dirt path on my way to work, I also got a giant reign. I’m so glad I do, because now all bikes are so far out ordered.

Hey Kev that deore cassette is an 11-46 tooth. I recognize it from the 2021 Marlin 7

Edit: The cassette spec is on the website now

Ok I'm the same guy that commented all the info on the marlin 5 video a while back. There's a few things I want to add. 1. Although a dropper cable can be routed internally down the downtube, there's no provisions for an internal dropper, the cable just pokes out at the bottem then you ziptie it to the seattube until it reaches the external dropper. 2.The casette is the same as the marlin 7 and is a Shimano deore m4100 11-46 10 speed casette. 3. the marlin series doesn't come with sealed bearing headsets. 4. these bikes are really dual purpose commuter/xc bikes. It's not reccomended to do any gnarly downhill or big jumps on this bike. Other than that, they're an alright way to get into the sport. Plus free tune ups for life is nice,

Thanks, Kev, for reviewing a bike in KevCentral Orange. We see what you did there. And when you introduced the fireworks display, I thought at first you were saying, "We put a GoPro on fireworks." And cool, I'd watch that. :)

No way! Your bike shop has your sticker in the front window, awesome! Fun fact about Trek's Marlin models: Trek moved all of their "2022" Marlins down one "notch", or their, in other words the 2021 Marlin 5 becomes the 2022 Marlin 4, the 2021 6 becomes the 5, and so on. The parts stay the same though some Marlins (maybe all?) have slight price increase and some have slightly better parts (I believe on Marlin had mechanical disk brakes and got upgraded to hydraulic disk brakes for ~$50 more.

The main reason why I know this is because my dad actually owns a 2021 Marlin 6 (now the 2022 Marlin 5).
