Brilliant!! I don't like messy straps and this is so great. Thank you for posting and making it a clear, easy to understand video.

I Love It. Thanks. I like the way the short hanging strap keeps the long rolled strap snug when hung.

Works great, my fixed part of the strap with the hook didn't was too short to do the hook the way you did it, but I was able to tuck it under the coil, worked fine.

Works perfectly with all my low-end Harbor Freight ratchet straps. All 24 of them.

I like the other approach that is similar but uses the ratchet to secure - very tightly I might say - the entire assembly. Thanks for posting

People, this will work with every strap with a small tweak! If your short end is too short, you can adjust the lead the long end sticks out before rolling by leaving more (or less) strap between the ratchet and hook before you roll. (You can easily shorten after you roll by using the ratchet mechanism.) Roll it up and place it on top like he does but slide the long hook into the eye of the short hook. Rotate the short hook 90° to tighten. You may have to try different leads before it will work. This is how I did mine, which have short "short ends." Works perfectly.

2 thumbs up for folding the strap in half before rolling. Every time I watch one of those "store your straps" videos and the guy starts rolling 15' of strap from the very end, it makes me want to scream "Fold it in half first!"

BTW - it's not critical to fold exactly in half - you just want the tail half to be shorter than the half coming from the ratchet, so that you don't have extra tail hanging out when you're done rolling.

Didn't work quite as well with a home depot strap, but I like the technique.

There must be 60 ways to store these things, and 59 better ways. I own dozens of straps, and they are all different. The differences would make your idea useless.

Awesome. Only works with short straps though

Did not work with mine. Concept okay but key is the correct length of short stationary to the distance around the roll and ratchet.

Cut the webbing off and use as Christmas gift box ribbon, then take the remains to the nearest trash container .

Yeh, it really depends on the length of the standing strap, for sure.
Mine is the cheaper variety also and I already have had issues with the short end being too short.
I've tried several different techniques for rolling straps on youtube and all are done with the better quality straps.
Obviously no technique works with the cheaper straps with shorter standing ends.
Oh well, back to my old method of storing each strap in a sock.
Keeps it neat and doesn't require all that rolling or twisted strap when unrolling for use.

For people that can’t get it through the handle just get some thick rubber bands and there you go lol
