Mozi also appeals to the ways of the sage kings in his book. Much of it goes "Back in the day of the sage kings, folks did this, but then we started doing that instead."

Most people have a narrow view of what constitutes a family. Very often, in old China, the entire village was your family -- you were related to everyone. This could be expanded to region and country. The founders of a Dynasty were of the same clan or extended clan.

Id still say confucious is the the right one here. There are down sides on each but confucianism is truer in a sense.
