Prayer wheels are used by many Tibetans every day, and are common in Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. The wheels have prayers written on the outside, and sometimes on the inside, and one spin of the wheel is the equivalent of chanting those prayers one time. When the wheel is spun the prayers or mantras are effectively chanted by the wheel, allowing many prayers to be sent out. These particular wheels are found in the Buddhas bodhi garden in Sarnath, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Watch my full Banaras vlog in the video linked below!
