I don’t think anybody is buying the Hasbro dolls anymore because they are still in some of my stores and Walmarts

I think, Ariel doll by Mattel is better than Hasbro

The Disney princess/frozen dolls, produced by Mattel in China, rather than Indonesia, have less pixelation than the Indonesian dolls I’ve noticed, especially with Elsa and Anna

Mattel has a prettier face ( the other kinda looks held at gunpoint) but Hasbro’s skirt and bodice look better. I do think that molded on tops are not great but they have a purpose. Plus it can give the doll a swimsuit.

The hasbro doll is so scary to look at!!! I can't believe they didn't use her Comfy Princess 2.0 sculpt for the final dolls which is probably hasbro's most dimensional head sculpt they've ever done for the DP line, but hasbro just did not know what they were doing towards the end especially so lol.

I do really think the branding being so similar is either an attempt to maintain continuity for a smooth transition, or that Disney really liked a lot of what hasbro did with the sculpted tops and packaging (people can hate them all they want, but they are clearly doing well if they've been making sculpted tops for over a decade at this point). It could also be that Mattel really wanted to get this line out the second January 1st came around and decided to copy the Hasbro lineup (but make their own sculpts instead of starting from scratch) for the sake of time, which explains why the gimmick lines so far are identical to Hasbro- there's even an upcoming budget mermaid ariel that comes with the exact same accessories as the Hasbro budget mermaid Ariel lol

Hasbro kind of did the same thing when they got the license too, even the core line name (Royal Shimmer) is a very clear copy of Mattel's core line names for Disney Princess (Shimmer Princess, Sparkling Princess, Glitter Princess etc) and I have to guess a lot of it is Disney meddling and a desire for brand continuity.

Overall I honestly think this is a really good start for the brand, the dolls aren't perfect and they desperately need a more 'deluxe' set of line with full fabric clothing and saran hair, but the sculpts and screenings are exceptional (Ariel is lowkey the most animation-accurate Ariel doll I have ever seen and Tiana and Pocahontas' sculpts are the best ones they've ever had imo), the accessories are scant but the ones they have made are EXCELLENT and I'm v excited for what will come in the future lol

Also for anyone wondering, the two deluxe Ariel dolls have saran hair!!

So crazy how similar they both are, even down to the packaging. I'm really hoping Mattel will come out with some better quality Disney Princesses in the near future, even with the obvious higher price points. I think it's fine to have these budget friendly dolls for young kids, but ALL companies should know there are plenty of adult collectors out there with adult money to spend.

Super helpful! I'm so glad I found your channel. Seriously. I am a casual collector and also now a parent of a young doll lover. Your videos are so helpful for navigating the market. Because I also love dolls, I don't want to waste my money looking at dolls for my kid that are needlessly cheep quality.

Also, not related to this video. But we were at Target today and my 2yo took her own doll and said, "let's see. Let me take a look at this. It says Disney on the sculpt here. This might be made at the Disney Store. Well anyway. The material is nice." LOL she has been watching your ily videos a lot.

well and honestly like you said all the complainers are just gonna swap the heads anyway. and for head swap disney dolls the sculpts are soooo much better than the Hasbro dolls i hated those head sculpts from the very beginning. and Mattel has said they are planning a line of high end(not play line) dolls for the collector. and with these sculpts im totally here for these new fancy Mattel Dolls!!!

Thank you for noting that these are not aimed at us collectors, and that the molded on tops have a purpose!

Hasbro faces are always awkward. Even with the nasty pixes I will take mattel every time.

Actually I'm not fan of the unremovable clothes it takes so much from the play aspect. I'm not completely against it but I really hope Mattel will make princesses with removable clothes as well. For articulation... When I was little around ages 4-8 I didn't play with dolls because they couldn't offer much to me except of changing their clothes, so I was so happy when I started seeing Barbie's with articulation. I'm so sad that they are gone.

Thank you for this. I have to make some clothes for a Hasbro Belle doll. It is not easy because she is sooo slim. I have to give her back to the little girl who owns her and was wondering if I should pick up a Mattel doll to use as a model. Now I think I better look for one of the Hasbro dolls, if I can still find them. Great video!

Hasbro did the comfy squad pricesses so well tho. And i fear mattel will slowly go back to make them just look like barbie in a disney princess cosplay/costume. Which as someone who really dont like barbie but loves disney (and monster high) i really hated to see in the past.

I have gotten a few Hasbro dolls from thrift shops and the quality of their hair is horrible! No way to untangle and style their hair. Not a good buy.
