For most home appliances including air conditioners, it’s quite easy to work out exactly how many solar panels you would need to run them.

How Many Solar Panels To Run an Air Conditioner?
An air conditioner would need 1200 watts of solar panels for each Ton of cooling capacity, assuming irradiance of 4 Peak-sun-hours/day. A 100Ah battery is recommended per Ton for each hour anticipated running time. This will allow running when irradiance is low and also provide a reservoir to supply motor surge current.

Well with the ones I reviewed on my channel, a mini split AC unit:
12000btu needs 4 solar panels or 1000W
18000btu needs 6 solar panels or 1400W
24000btu needs 8 solar panels or 1800W

All that info and the quition is still not answered. Just tring to figure out if I have a 48V 200 AH Battery would i be able to run the AC unit. Consider the unit pulls up to 3500 watts, Wtih the battery i should be able to run it about 2.5 Hrs on battery alone.

People who search for this type of video don't want to hear about tons... a super simple "connect a fridge at 200w, tv at 150 watts, router at 40 watts, washing machine at 500watts, microwave at 1500watts, laptop at 100 watts.... reasonably/ realistically used throughout the day and night you'd need x amount of panels, x amount of batteries and x amount of inverters."

The requirements went down recently. Now they have a newer way of starting the compressors that take much less initial power surge to get them started.

How complicated would have been to say for example a 5 ton unit typically needs between A and B 300 watts solar panels? After all, that's what the estimator had to do before selling you a system.

Whatever the say double it.
This accounts for cloudy days and rain.
No such thing as to many panels.
Backup Batteries are insanely expensive.
I have 18kwh of batteries and I can see where 3 to 4 times this would not be overkill. 72kwh You get a much longer run time during grid outages.
Grid outages are more often now and much longer for even minor repairs.
Then at some point charging the batteries with solar panels is not discussed.
You need a surplus of panels to charge batteries when the sun comes back up and enough to run your normal house load in the day.
12, 000 to 20, 000 worth of panels is a more realistic view in my humble opinion.
Even with all this you will not be running 2 of a 4 ton central unit.
This is where mini split come in and help with insane start current for a 4 ton central air and heat ( nat gas heat )
I have been living with my new system
7, 000 of panels and 18kwh of batteries.
I need double the panels to deal with cloudy and rainy days and charging the batteries takes over 4 hours most day.
I say go 15 kw of panel and 18kwh minimum for houses of
1500 sq feet
When going to 1800sq feet to 2000sq feet you can go much bigger.
Then you should make 100% of what power company use to charge you.
Make no mistake going bigger will make a lot sense when power companies increase their cost to 6x to 10x what they are now.
It’s coming no matter so called experts say.

a slow start will lower the compressors start amp draw down to around 5 amps for a big unit, t it will still use the same amount of power to run.

I just want to see a human standing next to a window unit with the solar panel or panels. That isnt hard.

becuase american reatrdism.

in euorpe there is a parameter name "scop" and its a multipier for electrical input to show heat output. for exmaple in eu every ac have to have 4 scop at least (tahst marked also with A+) what mean if u put 1kW electricity it wil transform to 4kW heat.
