MONTSEGUR by DRONE! - CASTLE IN THE PYRÉNÉES

The Château de Montségur is probably the best known of all Cathar Castles. It is famous as the last Cathar stronghold, which fell after a 10 month siege in 1244. We took our drone along to get a unique view of the ruins - enjoy!

Esclarmonde de Foix tried her best to defend off the Vatican forces but lost March 16th 1244. They 🔥 everyone who surrendered. Those Cathars who escaped were conversos and usually changed their last name to "Dragon" or "Mondragon" or "Drake" to communicate their beliefs with other refugee "heretics".
