I guess I grew up on an old dirt road
Pedal to the metal, always did what I was told
'Til I found out that my brand-new clothes
Came second hand from the rich kids next door

When I grew up fast, I guess I grew up mean
There's a thousand things inside my head I wish I ain't seen
And now I just wander through a real bad dream
Feelin' like I'm coming apart at the seams

But thank you Jack Daniel's Old Number Seven
Tennessee whiskey got me drinking in heaven
Angels start to look good to me
They're gonna have to deport me to the fiery deep

Thank you Jack Daniel's Old Number Seven
Tennessee whiskey got me drinking in heaven
I know I can't stay here too long
'Cause I can't go a week without doin' wrong

Without doin' wrong (Old Number Seven)
Without doin' wrong (drinkin' in heaven)
Without doin' wrong (Old Number Seven)
(Drinkin' in heaven)

So I'm sitting as the bar stool it starts to grow roots
I'm feelin' like an old worn out pair of shoes
Tell me what is it that I should do
And I'm swimming in the liquor only halfway through

So I'm watching as his wings spread as wide as could be
Come on now and wrap them around me
'Cause all I want to do now is fall to sleep
Come down here and lay next to me

Thank you Jack Daniel's Old Number Seven
Tennessee whiskey got me drinking in heaven
Up here the bottle never runs dry
And you never wake up with those tears in your eyes

Thank you Jack Daniel's Old Number Seven
Tennessee whiskey got me drinking in heaven
Angels start to look good to me
They're gonna have to deport me

To the fiery deeps (Old Number Seven)
To the fiery deeps (drinkin' in heaven)
To the fiery deeps (Old Number Seven)
To the fiery deeps (drinkin' in heaven)

This song is amazing. Alcohol is always that old friend that you know is bad to hang around, but every time you meet, he greets you with a warm hug and a smile. But stay too long and he'll ruin your life.

Been listening to this song and album for over 10 years. Got the whole 1st album memorized word for word. This song never gets old. Still a masterpiece and relevant to this very day. Cheers!

When I hear music like this I just remember that my daddy raised me right. Great music. Greater man.

Its amazing how songs bring back memories. I used to work in a casino back in 2012. It was a miserable job. I worked in one of the camera monitor rooms. I spent about 6 hours a day, staring at coworkers trying to find something to get them in trouble. I hated doing that, but I had another camera room that watched me, to make sure I was doing my job (I got written up a few times). I REALLY needed the money, so I stayed until I could find a better job (I did thankfully).
Every day after work, I would sit in my car and stare at the lights on the nearby interstate, listening to this song, and feeling absolutely hollow as a human being.
Its so weird. That was such a miserable time in my life, but listening to this song now feels so pleasantly nostalgic.

I wish I still had contact with my sis....
I tucking miss her so much, it's been at least 7 years, but every time I listen to songs like this I can't help but to be thankful she showed me music like this, especially all of the songs these kats play. This was the first song she ever showed me..

The first time I heard this, I literally spit my drink. It's literally my childhood in a song and it's terrifying how accurate it is

I like the angel of death being a comfort and all the undertones from this song. The writer is drinking to find peace, and he just wants "sleep" he's begging, courting death through the bottle and he's stubborn in his attempts

I spent many a night on old dirt roads, with a bottle of Old #7 when I was a teenager. And in the bars as well drinking it as teenager, I looked old enough. This song brings back memories, both good and bad. But that's life, you can't have good times without the bad times. No regrets, I've had a fun life.
