As the Toronto AIDS hospice, Casey House, prepares for the historic visit of Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1991, residents and staff are inspired to beat the odds as a plague continues to ravage a generation. This potent and moving drama by Nick Green, vividly captures a moment in time when a rebel Princess, alongside less famous caregivers and advocates, reshaped the course of a pandemic—and how those stricken by the virus found hard-won dignity, community and love in the face of astonishing hardship.

The Stratford Festival is honoured to provide a space for post-show reflection and facilitated discussion following each performance of Casey and Diana. The Reflection Space may be accessed by exiting through the main lobby doors and turning left once outside the theatre.

This space also features a selection of Casey House memorial quilts. Since 1988, those who pass away in Casey House’s care are commemorated each year through a volunteer-created memorial quilt. These quilts are lovingly designed and sewn by a team of Casey House volunteers, each memorializing those who passed away within twelve months. Visit the Reflection Space to view these quilts and learn more about the role of quilts in the AIDS movement.
