Theodore Chang: If you're missing almost or all of the teeth in one or both jaws, we have options of doing a snap-on denture or a fixed All On 4 implant. Whether you get the snap-on dentures or you get the All On 4, we always do a minimum for implants per jaw, if we need to do more we'll do more - six, seven, eight implants, but we don't charge any extra. If you've been told that you don't have enough bone for dental implants, we have solutions for you because we perform Zygomatic, Pterygoid and tilted implants which take advantage of all the solid bone that you have left.
Many patients come and ask the question, "How long will dental implants last?" This is a major investment of your time and money. Dental implants can last a very long time. They can last a lifetime, but you have to be healthy, and you have to take care of them just like you would take care of any other major investment in your life. Maintenance is very important. If done well, you will enjoy your teeth for a very long time.
If you've been told that you're going to have to spend the rest of your life in dentures, we have options for you. When we provide all the four dental implants, we don't treat every patient the same, we don't always do massive reductions of your jaw bone. Depending on your situation, we'll try to preserve as much bone as possible and still give you natural looking teeth, and we will always work with you to create the right size, shape, and color of teeth that you want, or that you had before that you're happy with.
Many patients ask, "When will I get teeth?" 99% of the time we are able to place the implants and give you fixed teeth the same day. The removal option is something that I generally recommend for people who already have dentures and it's a very secure option, but you still have to take it out at night.
Now a lot of offices, they will place the implants, and have you wear a denture that is not connected to the implants while you heal, that's going to be four to six months. Replace at least four implants, and on that same day, we connect the denture to the implants so you have way more secure teeth from day one of surgery. They're not like All On 4, where they're fixed and they don't have to come out, but they still are way more secure. You still have to be careful with them, but you're going to be able to enjoy the stability of the dentures from day one.
