I'm almost at the final boss and I would say, and this isn't honeymoon talking, this is S-tier Metroid. There were some areas the game wouldn't let me get back to when I wanted, and the melee counter was still kind of annoying and the dash melee wasn't the dream fix they posed it to be, but these are nitpicks. This was a triumphant upgrade from Samus Returns, I can't believe MS made such an improvement in one game.

Fusion was my first love. My first Metroid as well as my first real video game. So for it to finally get a sequel after so long feels….. amazing. Dread is a fun game and very challenging. My hands were shaking after I beat the final boss.

Yes. I completed every metroid since 1987 it is my favorite. They are all fantastic but dread was my favorite experience. I'm so happy and greatful it was made

Spot on review especially the part about difficulty. Reading other reviews from a younger generation of gamers complaining about difficulty is just annoying to see. Metroid is one of my favorite franchises of all time with Super Metroid being my favorite. This so far has the chance to topple that as the best Metroid game ever!

Just beat Kraid and holy hell what a masterpiece this game is, already getting those Super vibes but I'm also getting Fusion and even Prime vibes too and it's like a Metroid overload but in a good way. This game feels so damn good and imo the difficulty is PERFECT

It’s definitely inching in becoming my favorite in the series. The story was incredible and my jaw dropped more in this one than any of the other previous titles. The difficulty is nothing but a huge plus for me as well.

Played most Metroids since '89. This is, by far, the best entry in the series. It had me twisting, turning, cursing, screaming - a challenge, for sure - but never was it cheap.

I remember playing Metroid on the NES and Super Metroid on the SNES when I was little, but I never owned them. When I was in high school I had a friend that we would swap GBA games back and forth so we could try new games out and she let me borrow Metroid: Fusion and I absolutely LOVED it. Naturally, Metroid: Dread is the closest I've felt to that in a long time.

I got this game 2 years ago and got stuck on the first Emmi and never played it again. Until like 2 weeks ago and I’ve been completely addicted since. The game has soooo many weapons and upgrades. The game is fantastic.

It’s not Super Metroid (nothing is) but it’s a huge improvement over Fusion, Samus Returns, and dare I say, Zero Mission. 9/10 for me.

I feel like the "best metroid" might be a stretch. If you're not in love with the survival mechanics, you will like the others more. If you're not in love with the difficulty, you will like the others more. It's a very good game but it's tuned to certain tastes rather than everyone's tastes.
