i'm planning on visiting next year but it looks so empty...why??? i heard you always have to ask for permission to videotape, is that true? is crime prevalent there? is it safe there?

Not sure what yuo mean by empty hotel but the hotels do have people you stay. The best hotels in Bata are Ibis and Panafrica but I stayed at Hotel Carmen and the small beach Cabinas at the toll way leaving the airport ran by the Spainards.

And Bata is not the Capital, BTW
