I remember how popular Eddy was in my neck of the woods back when Tekken 3 was out, every friend of mine played him, hell, me and a couple of my friends went to learn capoeira because of him, say what you want about Eddy, but he certainly was a brilliant addition to Tekken and to this day, an iconic design, one of the most recognizable ones in Tekken.

Eddy was popular because his animations were stupidly amazing for the time. He also has a really cool design.

My first ever player Tekken (and fighting game) character. I have family who don't even play games anymore and still talk about how amazing Eddy's moves were back in the days.
5:06 And this has to be the most iconic Eddy move ever

I think Eddy was also popular because he was in the tekken 3 demo in the demo collection with the ps1

Eddy made a huge impact with his introduction. Even non-Tekken fans will easily recognize this guy.

6:36 - The reason it's so "inconsistent" is because Eddy (the opponent) is moving ALL OVER THE PLACE. Not only did he track you through sidesteps (so doing side throws on Eddy is pretty much impossible), but his idle stance has him moving forwards and backwards which meant there was always a random chance he'd just simply move out of the way of whatever the opponent was throwing at him. Kicks, punches and especially throws would fail to connect on Eddy where they'd land squarely on pretty much any other character. I can understand finding his moveset frustrating to play against, but his neutral dance dodging was the one thing that always made him downright infuriating to me. You see it at 6:47 as well - the opposing Eddy is tracking you as you attempt to sidestep, the kick, which would normally be a guaranteed launcher, misses its secondary high hit, and the throw is exceedingly difficult to land, not because of any mistake on your part, but because of his crouched idle stance and random movements back and forth.

This stage and this character was the very first look at tekken i had on a demo disc for playstation. The nostalgia is real. Closest arcade cabinet to me was an hour away in literally middle of no where backwater canada next to a lake

Woow I am impressed with how easy it is for you to pronounce words in Brazilian Portuguese, it is rare to see someone outside speaking so correctly. (Obviously, brazilian here)

Ngl, I love Eddy BUT I always thought it'd been much cooler if they had added a BJJ grappling-based character inspired by Royce Gracie. Still, super cool, and his Tekken 3 theme is one of the best.
