Context for those that don’t play this game:
They’re trying to cash in a chest of sorrows, which can sink a ship if left unattended, as the chest will start to “cry” and fill the decks up with water. To circumvent this, use a rowboat with a harpoon, fire the harpoon at the rear of the ship, and tow the rowboat to a nearby outpost to sell the chest. (FYI rowboats aren’t affected by the Chest Of Sorrows sobbing)

Can we just talk about how beautiful, well made and perfect the sea in this game is?

The Chest of Sorrows has another trick, actually; hold it and just hang out on the ladder, as it can't actually put water in your ship if you're hanging off the side! But this is probably the more fun option :P

Plot Twist: It wasn’t a chest of sorrows strategy, it’s actually just pirate tuberiding

I remember about a month ago we were farming reaper chests (myself and three other friends), and while we set sail to escape Reapers Hideout from potential opponents, one of my friends decided to cannon himself off onto a nearby islet. Obviously, we didn’t stop for him, but as luck would have it, there was a rowboat near him. We had to travel through a storm and open water for about 2 minutes or so before we reached the desired island, and so, my friend, in his dinky rowboat, *sailed it through the centre of the storm and emerged unscathed about 3 minutes after we had arrived at the island* and let me tell you, his rowboat was in tatters. You could’ve blown on it and it would’ve sunk. It is to this day one of the two greatest highlights of my time playing this game, with second (and equally impressive) moment being when 12 of my friend group (me included) all found each other on the same server, and formed an alliance fleet of 3 galleons with full crews, whereupon we dominated the server for hours.

Dang that’s how you really transport the chest of sorrow

Last chest of sorrows i brought back to an outpost was carried on my back while i was holding on to the bottom of my boat's ladder, while my crewmate steered the ship.
The water only went into the boat if i came up too high on the ladder but if i held on to the bottom, the water wouldn't get inside at all.

When someone somehow sneaks behind your boat and attaches themselves to it but it takes you so long to notice you decide to spare them.
