the whole strawberry thing has happened in my friend group before; we just make extra non-strawberry cupcakes for the kid with allergies who can't eat the cake lmao it's such a simple fix

On the strawberry one: My mother would have got that kid a special tiny cake or cupcake.
But if my best friend was allergic I would probably feel bad for suggesting such a theme at any age.

I think the age of the strawberry kids is important info. If the kid is too young to understand he’s unable to eat the food it could become an issue, but if the kids are older it could be that the birthday kid was purposely trying to exclude strawberry kid by making his party that specific theme when he already knew about the allergy

Steffie's mom: is an AH. She wanted Steffie to open it IN FRONT OF people. She missed one chance, and so usurped someone else.

Strawberry kid: is ALL the food strawberry? Not even sandwiches or chips or anything? But the son didn't say he didn't WANT to invite, he said the friend probably WOULDN'T come. It was up to Mom to say 'well, invite him and he can choose' and to ask allergy kid's mom what he can have. Also, strawberry flavouring is often not real strawberry, the kid might be able to eat the frosting and the jello and whatever.

Also for the second one, like Christine said, why couldn't the kid still come to the party and not eat the food??? And they seriously can't offer ONE snack that's not strawberry? Parents are crazy lol

Not inviting the kid who has the strawberry allergy is an a$$hole move, but if the mom of the allergy kid really wanted her child to go to their party she could of brought a non-strawberry dessert for her own kid.

I think this mom needs to further explain how this food rule works. Like, the ENTIRE menu had strawberries?! Or chocolate (also a somewhat common allergy) the year before that?
