Converted Car Garage to Artists Home, Studio & Gallery | Modern Townhouse in Florence

We want to show you an amazing townhouse in Florence - Silvia and Sven has converted an old garage into a space that has both an apartment upstairs and a studio & gallery downstairs. Sven is an architect and designed it all, as well as the custom build furniture inside, and Silvia is an artist who's paintings cover the walls. Their house was actually designed around her paintings, to highlight them. They live in the townhouse with their son, who has his own room and a loft as well to play in. All in all it's an amazing use of space and these beautiful are extremely creative and have thought through all the details!

Love all the natural light. I find that important too. I also like that the home is one one level and the studio/work is on a diff't level. For such a small space they sure get a lot in there. I enjoy seeing what is important to people by what they keep in their space. For this family it is art and books! :D Thanks for sharing your space and great video!!!

Her paintings are so unique. I know there are lots of aspects of the design of this space, but one of the things that I found most appealing was the post card rack that had been re-purposed as a photo gallery. This is such a cool concept.

Cultural Question for this video:

So... She called him her 'partner' instead of 'husband', which I initially thought was due to her lack of English. However, she did not have a wedding ring on, and I couldn't see a ring on him either. I take it they aren't married, with a child, and living together in one home? Or i it normal there to not wear a sign of marriage and disregard the value of the terms 'husband' and 'wife'?
