I was asked by several viewers after my last video, where I suggested ti Figure 8 was better for a truckers hitch than an Alpine Butterfly, if it was as easy to untie. Well here is the answer to that.

John it's quick it's easy to remember and it 's engineered logically plus it's aesthetically and visually appealing as well. I doubt that I will ever need an Alpine butterfly again...

I always use a directional 8 for my trucker's hitches. It just makes more sense to me to have it pointing in the direction of the force I'm about to place on it.

What really irks me are these knot videos that show a truckers hitch that uses a slip knot. And they're so gd proud of that crap. Glad you're showing one of many *correct* knots that are used in line.

I still can't tie the trucker so I use a figure 8 but with a loop pulled thru instead of the tag end only and it has come undone even with 40 knots but I had to use a fisherman trick for easy untie, like on the sheets bend you push one side up so when it comes time to loosen it you have room too pull the rope if that makes sense

Have always used the half sheep shank method if roping a lorry takes seconds a a shake and its gone but if using anything but a 3 strand rope i use 2 wraps around the bight one over the other so it binds over the top not next to each other ...🤔
