I bought an old Ford Tractor! Let's cold start it and plow some snow! - Vice Grip Garage EP58

I needed a hand around the shop. So naturally, I just bought a tractor instead of paying someone to help. I found a really cool old ford 9n south of town and had to have it. It's got a full hydraulic loader, working 3 point with a blade, and she even has high low! It was left in a tree row, and we fought pretty well to get it home. Let's see if it will start, and put it work plowing some snow!

I’m a life long mechanic and tinkerer also. 3 weeks after my wedding 22+ years ago I was changing a batree in a Deere tractor and pulled that same 1/2 wrench out of my pocket and temporarily induction welded it between my new wedding ring, the wrench, positive post, and the batree box. Still have a free scar tattoo on that ring finger today so don’t even need to wear a rubber one like all u guys. Keep up the great old school content, love it VGG!I

Really enjoy the old tractor videos! I’m in the middle of resurrecting a 1952 Ford 8N that sat under a cedar tree for 15 years! Look forward to seeing more on the old Ford,

1950 it'll be an 8n. The 9n came first, then the 2n then the 8n. Go figure. I got a 8n in the back yard I'm working on, sure do love them.

I, too, have stopped midway through a self inflicted disaster to remind myself that "this is fun".

That seems like a pretty solid old tractor. My dad does all his snow clearing with a 60s vintage Massey Ferguson 35, it’s got a 6’ blade mounted on the front and a 6’ blower on the back. I love old tractors

I had a 51 model, when it would start to run like your did it was almost always the carb was gunked up and starving it for fuel. The carb is super easy to work on.

My favorite tractor of my childhood. Born in 1951. This one is newer but great memories.

I had an old 9n very similar to this one for several years. Probably the best running and easiest starting engine I have ever had! Just don't get the ignition wet when you are plowing snow.

Had a 2n/9n with the original 6V system, generator and all. Never failed to start. Always sounded like it wasn't gonna start but then just fire off. As long as the governor is working properly, those beasts would go through just about The torque would easily rotate that 4500lb beast on them rear times I had to change my for the great memories.

I fold the excess straps into an 18-24" length, starting from the loose end to the strap. Then, after lifting the ratchet handle, I insert the lower side loop through the handle and then through the upper side loop, pull tight, and then push the ratchet handle down to lock.
