Dude, awesome. That second part of the cave was awesome looking I missed out, glad Hannah got to see it and made sure you stayed safe. Lol

I went into a pipe like this with my cousin when I was a teenager not realizing that even though it wasn't raining where I was, it had been raining heavily just 10-15 miles from me. We got into the pipe and climbed up into this chamber with grates at the top where we could stand on these ledges. Within a minute we noticed water started trickling into the previously dry chamber below us. We quickly climbed down and started moving up the probably 50ft long pipe, but by the time we got halfway, the water was up to our knees and it was getting hard to walk, and then debris started to stop up the pipe at the end, like tree limbs and garbage.

Once we made back to the entrance of the pipe, we were having to push tree limbs against the flow of water and climb over them to get out. We got out with scrapes and bruises from struggling against the debris, and sat on the side of the road over the culvert. It wasn't 30 seconds later that the entire pipe was full of rushing water. We would have either drowned or been trapped standing on little 6" ledges above the rushing water with no way to move or sit.

I'm never going into one of those again.

Be careful going in there. The fact that there are fairly recently fallen looking leaves even on those parts that are higher up must mean that the cave floods nearly completely at times!

The nonchalance with which you wade into opaque running cave water is terrifying.

17:26 a rule ive heard about caving (and cave diving) (other than always setting down a line so u can find ur way out and having plenty of backup flashlights etc and checking weather beforehand, watching out for flash floods and various other things) -- is that u should generally only go into caves where the water is flowing out of it and not into it.... this is so, firstly if there are any swimming sections or crawling thru tight areas with flow, that its harder to go in and easier to go out... this is for safety... so its more tiring to get deeper into the cave and easier to escape it.. secondly... you can end up with areas of water where the flow suddenly goes underground - you might see a pool of water, start swimming thru it and suddenly be sucked under (a kind of whirlpool effect) the flow dragging you further into the cave with no air and no way to escape... you guys should always be wary of things like this - i cant remember all the technical terms

I would be marking my path every 10' and carrying 15 flashlights after ensuring there's no rain predicted for 3 years if I went down there. Mr. Ballen has covered similar places that didn't turn out so well for the explorers. Still, that was almost magical. Thanks for the video!

The water flowing down the formation is beautiful. The way the water carves out those tunnels and makes natural bridges is too cool.

Reminds me of Donahue Cave near Bedford, IN. Could be the same. One of the few Indiana caves with an entrance/exit at both distant ends. The culvert entry was the accessible entrance. The other end and the drainage exited into the East Fork of the White River opening onto a small hung canyon in a jungle-like setting, the lazy, muddy White River below. We did the full length both ways perhaps three times in the early 1970's when my wife and I were dating. Caving makes for fun and memorable dates, sometimes more memorable than fun, but always memorable. I recall there was an upper dry section with some speleothems, but the incredible stream channel is where the cave truly shines, revealing multiple natural bridges, rimstone pools and active flowstone ramparts. One might find oneself chimneying a narrow water sculpted slot high above the stream or wading in ice cold water. Later improvements to the HWY 37 bypass have greatly changed the landscape beyond recognition for this old carbide lamp caver. In the 60's and 70's, we used the public library to find maps and directions to our chosen caves. There is a great leap of faith, part to full submergence passage at the river end of the cave, not for the faint of heart when water is a little high. Always look for leaves and sticks in the ceiling to know and appreciate what flood time looks like in a wet cave. Good times.

I went in this cave as a teen with some friends we ended up coming out in a lake area in someones backyard. I still tell stories of exploring it. So cool!

You guys are absolutely nuts. But thank you for taking us on this adventure. Good job.

You need to be very careful. It can be sunny where you are, but rain falling in the upper watershed will flood these sorts of drainages. It happens in only a matter of minutes. An urban explorer (and I believe his GF) in Philly were drowned a few years back doing this sort of exploration. You can do it 100 times and it's fine, but that 101st time will be your last.

It just blow my mind how massive these caves can get from such a small opening into a whole underworld!

4:40 Yo, the way the cave wall is pitted from having thousands of rocks tumbled through it for centuries is incredible!!! 5:08 my jaw dropped- absolutely stunning. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you!

Welcome to indiana and one of my favorite caves. Kudos to Hannah for going through the sump, lots of ppl turn around right there. Where yall turned around at, you wasn't to far from the other entrance. AND, there is still a lot more to see in that cave

Little girl keeping up with the big boys. Not only that, but pushing further than some as well. I hope she sticks with it and enjoys it for years to come. It's nice to see the younger crowd getting off the phone and out into nature. Stay safe little lady. (and big boys too.)

Wow, I am envious of the kid, the dynamics in being small and with a big brother like you to smooth things over!

aww! Hannah's so cute, it makes my inner child happy that you brought her along for the adventure, I was left out of these kind of things when I was younger. I never got to hang out with the big kids.

Although there are no stalactites, this is one of the most interesting caves I have seen. Thanks for the pictures. Nature is an excellent architect and sculptor.
