A reminder to never go after the actors (especially child actors). If they get targeted and harassed it could affect them very badly so as much as we like shitting on the apparition of the "Axel" character never go further than that.

This was one of the best parts of Thor, because instead of sleeping at the forced jokes, I was laughing at how this actually managed to get past post-production.

The fact that you can't even tell the difference between the meme edit itself and the original scene really tells you how bad the CGI was in Love & Thunder

I never expected that kid from the meme would go so far in his acting career. I'm proud of him.

I'm 1000% the cgi team let this slip to bring attention to how Disney treats the cgi team and how underpaid and over worked they are.

It astounds me how they felt it was necessary to render a fully CGI horse in a standing scene for Endgame, when real horses do in fact, actually exist.

I think that the floating head perfectly encapsulates the experience of having a frustrating video call with a family member who is inexperienced in technology

I think what makes it especially horrible is that its our first introduction to Heimdalls Kid, who is never mentioned or shown in the first three movies, or hell even before this awkward scene in Thor 4. I’m initially left with “Wow this is a terrible VFX scene” to “If Heimdall had a family, why weren’t they shown when Hela was persecuting Heimdall and the Asgardians.” Its made even worse when Axel should be traumatized after the combined events of Hela and Thanos killing several of his people, the destruction of Asgard, The snap itself, and the death of his father all happening days together, should make him and the Asgardian Children scarred for life, yet we never see any of that.

According to a subreddit of animators, this was a last-second scene that animators had to make from scratch, weeks before the film released.
Animators working for the MCU have too much to work on, with too little time. This is probably why some scenes look egregious.

This is what you get when you turn your CGI department into an ununionized, underpaid torture chamber while also relying almost entirely on it .

CGI Floating Head feels like something out of an early 2010s shitpost instead of a 2022 movie.

My heart goes out to the people who work on the CGI and VFX. I feel bad for them. It's not their fault it turned out the way it did...it's Marvel and their unrealistic deadlines. Poor working conditions can also effect the quality of the CGI in their films and tv shows. I hope Marvel see what DC is doing, and give their projects time instead of having a need to go for Quantity over Quality.

while most people say the CGI was bad, I say that it was the most CGI I've ever seen

To be honest, having heard about how VFX staff are treated by Disney Marvel, I can't get too angry at this.

Executives at companies often expect the staff in lower positions to work miracles

It’s not about the fatigue. It’s about the constant bad writing and unforgivable amount/severity of plot holes

I agree that it could've been executed better - if Axl was just in the room like how Thor was with the kidnapped children, it would've been fine.

I agree with Martin Scorsese that the Marvel films are repetitive and non ambitious, I just disagree it’s purely attributable to them being comic book superhero characters. Some of the problems of the movies stem from the comics, like the fact many superhero characters were written like soap opera characters who are supposed to have never ending adventures rather than grow and change over time. The characters did in fact change and grow over time, forcing the modern Big 2 to continually reinvent and change the characters. Spidey’s marriage was erased, and his secret identify restored. Superman was unkilled and separated from Lois and John. Jason Todd was unkilled. Batgirl’s crippling was undone. Almost any weighty narrative moment eventually gets revamped or retconned, which strips the original moments of their narrative power. Great ideas by some superhero writers get discarded by later writers.

The superhero films had the advantage of getting to pick and choose from this long stream of weird, conflicting stories and ideas from the comics, and I think they intelligently made Tony and Cap the central figures of the early movies. With both retired, the questions becomes “who are the central characters of this ongoing story” and it’s pretty clear Disney is now in the process of scrapping the comics for any minor characters they can slap into something. It’s the multiple universe confusion of the comics without their pulpy charm.

My favorite scene was when Thor said to the kids "Don't worry. Cause I'm the love and thunder!" Truly a breathtaking scene

“Mostly CGI and funny quips” my guy you are describing nearly every marvel movie

According to Taika, it was intentionally meant to be bad but still sounds like bs to me, and either way shows you just how seriously He took this film

Update: There was a recent article saying that it was changed secretly, and it looks even worse. So Taika's credibility is ruined lol. Someone will have to let me know if the changes were indeed applied.
