You can skip the animation of the zoom out whenever you use an item that will scan by going in and out of your 3rd person and 1st person view. it skips the zooming animation for when you scan to make a base, don't know about console but on pc you can hit Ctrl + a number on the keypad to hot key it and make it easier

Note for scanning for monoliths if your on land you will get it on first/second but if your on a ship it will always be on third scan thus wasting 2/3 charts

I searched in a 3-star system, assuming there'd be a higher chance like with other multitool cabinets, and found a camp that gave me an S class staff within an hour.
Still haven't found one that'll give me an S class with any of the other heads yet, though.
Every camp has a different colour scheme, too, from what I've seen.
