Are Democrats the 'freedom' party?

At the Democratic National Convention this week the Democrats have claimed that they are now the party of freedom. Jane Coaston discusses whether or not this rebrand will be successful.

When Democrat activists took over my department at my corporate job in 2020 we were forced to go to 'voluntary' DEI meetings where there was 'open and nonjudgmental discussions'. A significant portion of us knew that was a bs lie and we needed to keep quiet. Eventually falling in line with the activist narrative became an actual performance review item that I had to judge my direct reports on. Glad to be retired.

In our town our Democrat mayor was drunk with power giving out tickets and fines to bars and restaurants during covid shutdowns.

Speech, guns, property, employment, building, enterprise, no.
Drugs, infanticide, pretend sex, theft, total state power, yes.

Since the former freedoms do not interfere with any but the most destructive pleasures, the constitutional freedoms create a better life.

When it comes to anything they demand you do to your body to make them feel safe.

Mind your own business - translation: Don't question us, shut-up and mind your own business.

They obviously don't mind their own business when it comes to freedom of speech, right to privacy, gun rights, private business operations (price controls, rent controls), and lets not forget to mind our own business when it comes to our own children in public schools.

What they think are freedoms are known as positive "freedoms", which basically takes away natural rights from people in favor of one group the politicians prefer. Negative freedoms are what actual freedoms are. Basically the Non-aggression Principle, you, put simply, can do as you please so long as you do no harm to others.

If you pollute on other people's property, whether that be their body or land, you have caused aggression onto another. Now imagine positive freedoms basically saying that the polluter has the right to pollute your lungs and land.

Positive freedoms are not freedoms at all. It's just named that as to detract from what it actually is. That being, aggression on other people's property rights.
