Initial Set Up - Garmin Instinct Tutorial

Just get a Garmin Instinct watch? In this tutorial, I show you how to set up your Garmin Instinct for the first time. This tutorial will go through turning on the Garmin Instinct, Installing the Garmin Connect app, pairing with your phone, and personalizing the Garmin Instinct for you.

Follow the steps below to setup your Garmin Instinct:
1. Turn on the Garmin Instinct by holding down the CTRL button.
2. Navigate to your receptive app store to download and install the Garmin Connect App:
3. Open the Garmin Connect app and create an account.
4. Ensure your bluetooth is enabled, then select the plus symbol in the app to set up a new device.
5. If your Garmin Instinct is on, the app should automatically find your watch. If not, find the Garmin Instinct in the list of available watches. Select Connect it.
6. Check the Garmin Instinct for a pairing code. Enter that into the app when prompted.
7. Go through the setup steps for Sleep Time, TrueUp, Goal Setting, and Device Syncing.
8. Your Garmin Instinct has now been set up and is ready to be used. Enjoy!

I've walked all my life and got lost all my life, but it never bothered me, I eventually got home.
Now with arthritis, and some memory lapses I can't have the "eventually", I can only walk so far then I can't walk so I bought this to help me get out of the forests...
After a month I still couldn't get out of the front screen, watched lots of videos and looked at the online instructions then I found you.
Thanks, I have only got as far as your video, I'll keep it in favorites as if the shilling goes out and I have to put another one in to reset I can🤔(over fifty you will get it).

kove your stuff, but a strange question for ya.... I bot this watch as I dont want it connected to a smart phone and letting facebook and google see everything you do. How do I do this via home computer or no computer at all??? What I want is the heart rate, and ideally the GPS retrace steps when ya get lost in the bush with no cell signal.. any comments or sending me where I can get assistance would be wonderful

Mine arrived today, turned on and pointing at the languages selection. Not clear how to move on from there. So it looks like I need a control video before a setup video.

NOTE : As a veteran software designer my recommendation would be to publish a menu map - always a good idea for any menu-driven device, so that the user (especially a novice like me) understands where in the menu system they are, so they can navigate to the proper location. That menu map already exists; it just needs formatting, bundling & publishing. Or, if's already been published, it perhaps needs to be a bit more prominent, so a dope like me can find it. I already tried RTFM :)

3 questions if I may. Is it possible to compare my Garmin stats with another Garmin Fenix user? Let's say add my sister watch and see who did better in the last day or week. 2nd the maps (specially the MTB maps) are the same maps we get with Fenix 5/5x plus? Sure I know it has less details but the trails are the same, or is more basic version with less maps? 3rd can I control my phone? (music +/-, see who is calling, find my phone.. usual stuff) I am getting a little fat to say the least, and i plan to get back in to Enduro/free ride (my new bike is on it's way :) ) and I need e device that will show me the trails in my area, and if I can compare my stats with my sister, that would be great motivation for both of us. I looking at 5x plus but it is like 900 Euros, and if this would do those 3 things, I would save 600Euos easy. Thank you.

How does this work when it comes to receiving texts and phone calls? Does it let you know on the watch? Can you reply from the watch with your phone still in your pocket? I can’t find any good info about this.
