The European Commission said it's suing the coronavirus vaccine manufacturer AstraZeneca for not respecting its vaccine supply contract, and for not having a "reliable" plan to ensure timely deliveries.

AstraZeneca said the move was "without merit" and that it would "strongly defend itself in court".

The legal action marks an escalation in a long-running dispute between the two sides over the supply of coronavirus vaccines.

Geez, one minute they don't want it and the next they can't get it quick enough.

Meanwhile, in Denmark, we have it, but refuse to let people use it because of the side effects. It's like I'm banging my head on a table, I swear.

Oh yes, the European Union to sue AstraZeneca in their own Court of Justice. Will be absolutely no bias there...

The EU messed things up for itself badly and now wish to transfer the blame to someone else. I fixed the headline for you, BBC.

"Favouring the UK over EU countries."

Hm, I wonder why, maybe because we funded vast amounts of the project and ordered ours first?

The EU went online to do their grocery shopping but there were no delivery slots left. So they waited till the delivery van pulled up outside their neighbours house and went and demanded their fair share.

Just tell the EU , if your going to Sue us then we will have to halt ALL deliveries to the EU until the court case is settled

The EU countries were saying they didn't want it and slagged it off in the news worldwide!
Now they want it and are going to sue, WHAT THE HELL!

It's like watching a divorcing couple give each other a hard time during post divorce.

This is a sign to all other companies to not want to do business with the eu incase they get sued.

EU needs to stop throwing a temper tantrum and stomping it's feet over anything and everything when they can't get their own way immediately. Yelling 'I want it, I want it now!!' is jst childish and unbecoming.

The EU orders late so the EU has to blame someone.

And they wonder why companies don't want to enter into contracts with the EU.

EU doing the interests of the EU, what's so strange about it?

I can somewhat see their point, in that it must be frustrating to see the UK supply being prioritised over the EU - but unless their contract explicitly states otherwise, I don't think the EU has a legal leg to stand on, really...

This is the mess the EU gets itself into due to having such amateurs running, or should I say trying to run the EU. The ones who suffer are the population of the EU who desperately need their jabs to keep safe and to assist in the reopening of their countries businesses. Everyone suffers because of this non professional handling of a contract. And we wonder why other EU countries are lining up for their exit from the EU.
