On test: Gunfleet 58 – British built shoal bluewater cruiser

Yachting World's test on the first new Gunfleet 58. The shoal draught option of this premium bluewater yacht allows her to cruise shallow waters hence we spent two days aboard on the east coast of the UK.

This is a RIDICULOUS helm! It deprives the yacht owner and his family of the most pleasant timespend on any boat on long passages - STEERING WITH ONE FOOT!!!! This is what happens when a brit tries to be playful. Like the queen in speedos.

Lol, why are so many presenters short? I know we can't help our heights, but when he mentioned how spacious it was 4:34 I winced. I am 6'4". Surely the average height for men now is close to 6'.

The problem with this boat is that she looks like almost every other "modern-style" boat in this size range, whether it be a Beneteau, Jeanneau, Discovery, Malo, Hunter, Catalina, or some other make. They're all cookie-cutter. They all have straight stems, high freeboard, and are very beamy aft. I guess that's Ok, if you like this look. I think it's awkward and ugly-looking. I'll take a Cabo Rico 56, Friendship 53, Hinckley Sou' wester 59 or Spirit DH60 over a boat like this every time.
It's a good thing we have choices.
