Had the right tiller cylinder fail on my driving course, had to stop, hit reverse, and neutral turn left tiller to turn right! Lots of angry driver’s beeping their horns at the bloody learner. Also bloody gear linkage was missing a bolt and the previous driver had just bodged it up with 14 gauge, so gear changes were not smooth. Happy days in a Spartan.

Now you know why armored recce units such as the Queen's Own Yeomanry, had a "boot troop." - A dismounted section who left the noisy APC vehicle behind and did the old fashioned sneaky beaky with the Mk1 eyeball, before reporting what they had found.

I've seen Fox and Scorpion, concealed hull down so well, that the gunner can easily watch approaching enemy through his gunner sights, while those enemy have no chance at all of seeing the hidden vehicle. The first they know is when artillery starts bombarding them or 30mm three round bursts from a Rarden cannon rips into their APC and spoils a perfect day in the countryside.
