The Terracotta Army is regarded as one of the greatest discoveries of the 20th century. It is part of the world's largest ancient imperial tomb complex, About 8,000 different life-size statues have been uncovered. It is the largest find of its kind.

The statues are 175–190 cm tall. Every one differs in gestures and facial expressions, some even with color showing.

It was constructed over 2,200 years ago, It was an afterlife army for Emperor Qin. It was believed that objects like statues can be animated in the afterlife. Over 700,000 workers took about 40 years to complete the statues.
Thousands of years later, the soldiers are still standing and showcase an extraordinary level of craftsmanship and artistry from 2,200 years ago.

It was discovered by local farmers. The Terracotta Army remained untouched underground for more than 2,200 years and was discovered by chance by local farmers while digging a well in 1974 in Xi’an. This discovery prompted Chinese archaeologists to investigate, revealing the greatest archaeological site in China.

It's not just soldiers. Since the discovery of the Terracotta Army, more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots, and 670 horses have been uncovered. Terracotta musicians, acrobats, and concubines have also been found in recent pits as well as some birds, It is believed that Emperor Qin wanted exactly the same grand services and treatment for his afterlife.

If the huge number of terracotta warriors does not surprise you, you should take a close look at them. You will be amazed at the delicate craftsmanship and surprised to find that no two figures are exactly alike.
Each warrior has unique facial features, expressions, clothing, and hairstyles.

You went with a Tourist group or by yourself? I went in 2019 with a Tourist group and they put us on a very tight schedule and we can't see too much around that cool place. If I go there again I'm sure to take my time. The cool thing is they are still digging that place ☺️

One question this archaeological find prompts is: where were the Europeans, Indians, South Africans, Arabians and Africans doing when the terracotta army was built around 210–209 BCE? Return to 2021: while tourists are visiting various popular sites in China during the May holidays and an Chinese explorer landed on Mars, what are people doing in the US, UK, India, Israel, Palestine, Brazil, Columbia, Europe etc? History lessons are sobering.

Some policies should be changed, foreigners who have lived in China for a long time should be treated as it's own citizens. Visited The Terracotta Warriors several years ago when we took a transfer in Xi'an, took part in a group with tourist guide so we can better know the history behind, very proud of our ancestors.
