I’d like to add this for those of you who have yet to understand cases, the Accusitive is used to describe the place TOWARDS which something or someone is moving (Towards where? In which direction?) ;
the Prepositional is used to describe the place WHERE, IN WHICH an action is taking place, an object or person is located, something is happening (In which place? Where?)

ACC. 1• Я иду в банк (I’m going “towards” the bank); 2• Я поставил стакан на стол (I’ve put the cup “on which direction” the table)

PREP. 1• Я в банке (I’m “where?” In the bank);
2• Подарок в коробке (The gift is “where?” In the box)
