I finally got out on Rodeo Jones, alone! Snailing away, practicing some tacks and avoiding hurting any rocks, getting ready for bigger adventures.

I am a U S Sailng instructor. After basic lessons and you have the fundamentals down. I always encourage my students to get out on their own with friends and GET EXPERIENCE. There is noththing more satisfying and instructive than being the skipper. And when alone even more so. Good for you.

Great job! You need to teach Sam how to coil his lines. Your lines all look so nice and organized. It makes sailing so much easier.

I am often amazed at the bravery shown by someone like Sam when I watch his videos of travelling the world. As someone who is super cautious in life, I admire anyone who can take to the open seas, especially solo. Kudos to you, Ann-Elin. Your courage is inspiring.

It took Sam years to build these skills, and your doors already look way better than his! Way to go girl! I am new at sailing so I hope you will keep putting vids like this as it is educational and inspirational! @sam give your girl some camera mounts as a present 🙂. PS: glad you broke your sunglasses as your eyes are gorgeous!

its all about time in the boat! lazy sailing is great, you get to learn your boat without feeling overwhelmed, eventually the wind will creep up and you'll find you're naturally more comfortable.

Good going Ann-Elin, you did just fine for your first time. Besides you are a whole lot easier to look at than that hairy Sam fella. Keep this up and your subscribers might just pass Sam's count. I'll be watching your progress.

Well done! Every time you go out sailing on your own, you’ll get more ‘at home’ with it. There’s always something new to challenge you but it is so worthwhile. 👏🏻

tip: if you not sailing in wide open waters then if the wind drops and you decide to use the motor you should first point the yacht into what's left of the wind and drop the sails. As you do not want to approaching your docking area with sails raised unless you really really comfortable sailing solo. If you keep sails up in tight water ways and the wind lifts just a little you could get into a problem. You did very well in those light conditions – even a small yacht can be problematic tacking in such light airs. By the way you compainion doorway is not doing to keep you boat dry in heavy weather. Try refitting a proper side-in hatch closure. Another tip: if possible try and swop out the pull-cord starter outboard engine for a push button electric starter – you will have yourself lots of cuts and bruises, sore shoulders. Happy sailing Ann-Elin 😊

Nice video. Beautiful scenery. We've been sailing in northern Scotland this year. The weather has not been warm, but strong winds, so some decent sailing and some hiding.

Nice video. I enjoyed it. Made me nervous when you mentioned heading out over the bar. Get better at motoring. Get some electronics. MASTER THE head out to open seas. You'll have more confidence and fun.

This video makes me want to go our sailing. Not long now until you and Sam are racing Rodeo Jones vs the Pickle

Your cautiousness is well respected for your first sail without Sam. I like the name Rodeo Jones, has a fun feeling to it. Thankfully it wasn't a rodeo out there when you sailed. Wait until you look back at this video in a few years and have a good laugh. Remember to take up the Fender next time out.⛵
