Honestly, I'm not surprised. It is just 8 episodes, and that's Amazon Prime that decides how many episodes, not A24, as far as I know!
It's still sad, but there's a chance the less episode we have by season the more seasons will get.

It's super disappointing to hear that hazbin hotel again is only getting 8 episodes. That's not enough run time, to be honest, it makes everything feel, really rushed and makes it less enjoyable, not saying I didn't like the first season, I loved the hell out of it, but I really don't like but they're putting them in this small creative box, you can only fit so much in there

I'm SUPER excited, but also kinda... Scared? Like... I really want to know about Alastor's backstory, but I already have a feeling it'll be too sad and tragic? Also, if we get to see him as a human? I hope yes. But what if he won't look like we all imagined? Personally for me, Alastor's backstory will be the most powerful event in the second season. Also can't wait to see Vox as a villain and hear new songs! I'm also kinda sad about the new cast members. Dexter (Bexter, Shmexter, idfk) as a replacement for Sir Pentious is just... Idk, kinda depressing? Overall, I think the season will be great, but more tragic, just like it was in Helluva Boss.

I have a theory. Maybe vox was in love with Alastor, but of course alastor being asexual didn't feel the same way, or maybe alastor loved vox as well but not sexually. Maybe Alastor doesn't get the concept of asexuality, like in the scene where Rosie calls him "an ace in the hole" and he says " a what now?" So maybe Alastor doesn't know why he can't be sexually attracted to anyone.
