Hero 7 Black Protune Explained

In this video for GoPro beginners, we are taking a look at Protune for the Hero 7 Black and discussing in detail what every setting is and when you would want to use them. If you own a Hero 6 or 5 Black you can still follow along as the settings are the same, however, how you access the Protune menu is different. I offer some opinion on the best Protune settings to use in various situations.

Thank You Very Much! I bought the GoPro Hero 7 Black and Hero 8 Black in 2020, and I hadn't had much time to experiment around with them. In the recent days I was trying to figure out how to access protune with the Hero 8 black. I also have the Hero 5 Black, and accessing protune on that camera was very easy. I think you can imagine the difficulty I had trying to figure out how to access protune on the Hero 8. I didn't have to go very far into your video to get my question answered. Unfortunately, the user manual did not indicate how to find protune. I greatly appreciate your very helpful presentation of information!

Super helpful video. Took my GoPro out riding some trails on my motorcycle and the auto exposure was killing me as I went in and out of wooded sections when the sun got bright. That and it looked like I was going extremely slow, so I might mess with the shutter speed and ND filters.

Thanks. Didn’t know about the Mic setting. I ride a motorcycle and get a lot of wind noise. I’m going to test out the wind setting and see if it makes a difference.

How do you save the settings you've made?
Everytime I turn my GoPro back on the Protune setting is off and it all goes back to default.

How do open these raw wav audio files from GoPro? They are not recognized by wavelab, which is strictly an audio program.

Great informative video on protune settings on the GoPro hero 7 black. I’m definitely a beginner with GoPros so this was very helpful! If I’m shooting mostly in sunny clear sky weather, would it still be good to leave the color temp in native mode or switch it to 5500k?

I have a GP7 Black, i was biking on an afternoon, i noticed the footage has a bluish tint on it whenever i pass on a shaded area and turns warmer tint when exposed to sun..why is that? Is there any setting i missed?
