Fresh out of Motorola's New York City Moto X event, we've managed to get our hands on a brand-new Moto X. You've just got the skinny on the phone's hardware and heard a few details about the Android's much-touted customization process, so what more are we waiting for? Let's go hands-on with the Moto X and see what you can expect if you choose to pick one up yourself in a few weeks.

This is just a simple black model like will ultimately be available (alongside the white) in retail stores -- for more custom builds, you'll have to order online. We go through everything you'll find in the box, take quick look at the handset's build, and make with that inaugural power-on. Check it out all below, and be sure to stop by for our Moto X hangout just a little later on this afternoon.

This is not just a Dual core, that's the mistake people make with this device, it's actually a Quad core distributed in: 2 cores for OS processing, 1 for the "Always listening" feature and 1 for context processing. It also has Quad core GPU, making it an Octa core.

I don't get the problem over it being a 720p screen, there is no huge difference between 720p and 1080p, the human eye cannot really see it, and 1080p only drains the battery faster than 720p.

I'd say this is a magnificent device, i

I actually liked this unboxing a lot. The only thing it needed was a little more light

Oh my, this is a really pretty device. I've been considering switching to Android from WP8 but have held off because of the rather busy looking phones. But I really like the clean look of this one. I may pick it up to replace my Lumia 900 this weekend.

I believe it's 199 because its manufactured in USA. So, it has to have a bit higher price. But, loving the design! Especially them bezels! ^AS

Still wished they could match the current crop of smartphones (ie, 1080p, Quad core). Other than that, seems solid and well featured.

You missed the dual usb port on the charger, it's quite strange.

The Snapdragon S4 in the Moto X is in fact dual core... (even though it uses it in a different way)
